Five security rules

5. Using Anti-Spyware software

Spyware is a term used for programs that can lodge on your PC with the purpose to monitor and register the activities in your browser while surfing thru the Internet. The result of this monitoring could be used for commercial purposes such as malicious purposes, for example to extract personal information you have entered as passwords, phone numbers, credit card numbers and keys (passwords) to bank accounts.

Spyware is commonly downloaded on computers without users consent and may be part of another free download service; for example, in a service which claims to improve your PC performance or some other application without cost.

To remove the Spyware software that could be installed on your computer, we recommend installing anti-spyware software.

Anti-spyware Security programs that are currently available include McAfee, Spybot Search and Destroy, AdAware, Spyware Eliminator, Spyware Doctor and Microsoft Windows Defender. We strongly recommend that you install and use an Anti-Spyware product with good reputation to protect yourself against spyware on your PC.
